David Landau, a Democrat running for Delaware County Council, is urging the U.S. Office of Special Counsel to determine whether certain Republican municipal leaders violated the Hatch Act.
Local government employees covered by the act include those "who are principally employed in connection with programs financed in whole or in part by loans or grants made by the United States or a federal agency." Such workers may not run in partisan elections, use their offices to impact or influence the results of election or nomination processes, nor may they force any of their subordinates to contribute to any political campaign.
